Planning Your Bridal Shower

Connecticut Wedding Articles » Wedding Planning

If you are getting married, then any bride knows that it is time to plan for your bridal shower. While traditionally your maid-of-honor and your bridesmaids plan your bridal shower, it is helpful if you get some details in order to assist them. Fortunately many of these details you will have already done while working on planning your wedding. Bridal showers are just plain fun, and most brides look back on their bridal shower with great fondness. The key to a great bridal shower is organization and planning – and then the ability to simply let the party happen.

The first thing you’ll need to provide your maid-of-honor and bridesmaids with is the guest list. It is important that you invite all of the people that should come to your bridal shower. This may include some of your mother’s friends and also some of your future mother-in-law’s friends. It may even include some of the groom’s female friends. While these may not be people that you are very close with – they will be people that you will develop closer relationships with. You will want to be able to say that they were at your bridal shower as the years pass and time goes by. Your bridal shower is an important day in your life as a future married woman. So don’t be stingy with the invitations, make sure to invite everyone you think would want to come to your bridal shower.

It would be helpful to your maid-of-honor and bridesmaids to suggest some places to hold your bridal shower, but allow them to do most of the planning. Remember that they want you to be happy with your bridal shower. They will want to know if you want an at-home shower or a shower at a restaurant. If you have anything special about the menu they would want to know that too. So voice your opinion early on in the planning to be helpful – but be very thankful and appreciative of the results. Now that you are planning a wedding you know just how hard it is to plan any type of special event!

While details are important, what is even more important is to simply let the party happen. Things happen at every party. You may run out of ice, the caterer brings the wrong appetizer or something else goes wrong. You can either laugh or fuss about it all day. Choose laughing about it and enjoy the day. Spend your day enjoying being with your guests and remembering the special time of your bridal shower. You will want to treasure these moments.
