Adding a Touch of Charity To Your Wedding

Connecticut Wedding Articles » Wedding Ideas
Many couples are lucky: not only do they have each other to celebrate – they truly have it all. So when it comes to their wedding they look to give back to others that are less fortunate. Adding elements of charitable giving to your wedding has been popular for some time now. Especially with recent second wedding with couples merging entire households, many of these couples have discovered that they truly do not need household items. They have chosen to give to a charity that is close to their hearts as a way to express their gratitude for finding their spouse in their lives. Sometimes the bride or the groom has a personal connection to the charity. Other times a family member has a personal connection to the charity. But most importantly, they select a charity that is close to their hearts to express their joy.
Some couples choose instead of registering for wedding gifts, to ask their wedding guests to make donations to a charity in their name. These couples typically select a charity and then ask the wedding couples to make the donation in their name. This is a wonderful way to raise funds for a well-deserving charity. Many wedding guests appreciate their thoughtfulness and are glad to contribute. In today’s materialistic society it is nice to see a couple that eagerly thinks of others and of society’s greater good. Couples can select literally any charity that they select. Some charities have even taken to advertising in bridal magazines in hopes of encouraging couples to donate to their charity.
Another lovely way that couples can give back for their wedding is through their wedding favors. Just about every wedding has some type of wedding favor. A wedding favor is a way to thank guests for attending the wedding. Couples that choose to do some type of charitable giving in connection with their favor typically create a themed wedding favor and include a note saying that a donation has been made in the guest’s name to a specific charity. So for example if at each table was a small plant and a note that said that a donation was made to an environmental group, that would be a themed wedding favor ideal for charitable giving. These wedding favors are popular at many weddings. It is a lovely way for couples to express their thanks and also to add a personal touch. Couples select a charity that is close to their heart and sometimes mention why they selected that charity.
